About the project
The acclaimed Modern Composers International Music Festival (ModComFest) returns for a fourth edition in September and October 2025, offering a bold celebration of contemporary classical music in the vibrant city of Paris. Organised by CMDI Events, this latest entry in the festival’s history is dedicated to honouring the extraordinary work of French-Armenian composer Michel Petrossian, who, renowned for his ability to seamlessly blend ancient traditions with cutting-edge innovation, reflects the very ethos of ModComFest with his music — that of bridging classical heritage with contemporary creativity.
Since its inception in 2016, ModComFest has established itself as a leading platform for championing modern composers. From celebrating Joseph Vella in its debut year to showcasing a remarkable array of global talents including Krzysztof Penderecki, Tigran Mansurian, and Georgs Pelēcis, the festival has consistently delivered groundbreaking performances that highlight the diversity and richness of contemporary classical music.
The 2025 edition brings Michel Petrossian's visionary works to life in some of the French capital’s most iconic venues, including the prestigious Auditorium du Petit Palais, the Auditorium du CRR de Paris, and the Théâtre de Saint-Maur. In the midst of these magnificent surroundings, audiences will be able to witness performances from a host of celebrated artists and ensembles, ranging from cellist Alexander Chaushian, violinist Elsa Grether, violist Karine Lethiec, pianist Chae-Um Kim, to Musicatreize, L'Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain, and Ensemble 2e2m, with famed conductors Roland Hayrabédian, Bruno Mantovani, Léo Margue, set to oversee proceedings.
Across these events, ModComFest 2025 promises to deliver an unparalleled cultural experience, weaving tradition and innovation into a tapestry of performances that redefine the possibilities of classical music in the modern age.
